OSINLMS5 - INSTALLING OS/2 WARP FROM A PHILIPS LMS205 CD-ROM 02/06/96 ======================================================================= Installing OS/2 Warp from a Philips LMS205 CD-ROM ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION Because of space considerations, the LMS205.ADD CD-ROM driver is not on Diskette 1 with the other CD-ROM drivers. If you have a Philips LMS205 CD-ROM drive and are installing from the CD-ROM version of OS/2 Warp, use the procedure that follows. RESOLUTION Note: Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change. 1. Start the system in OS/2 or DOS. 2. Type MD TEMP and press Enter to make a temporary subdirectory on your hard disk. 3. Insert OS/2 Warp Installation Diskette in drive A. 4. Type the following and press Enter to copy the LMS205.ADD driver to the temporary subdirectory (x is the hard disk): COPY A:\LMS205.ADD x:\TEMP 5. Insert OS/2 Warp Diskette 1 in drive A. Make sure you have a blank, formatted, 1.44 MB diskette ready. 6. At a command prompt, type DISKCOPY A: A: and press Enter. Follow the instructions on the screen. 7. Put the ORIGINAL OS/2 Warp Diskette 1 away and use the copy of Diskette 1 for the remainder of this procedure. 8. Type the following and press Enter to delete LMS206.ADD from the copy of Diskette 1: DEL A:\LMS206.ADD 9. Type the following and press Enter to copy the LMS205.ADD driver from the temporary subdirectory to the copy of Diskette 1: COPY x:\TEMP\LMS205.ADD A: 10. Edit A:\CONFIG.SYS on the copy of Diskette 1: Change: BASEDEV=LMS206.ADD To: BASEDEV=LMS205.ADD 11.
