OSINMENU - ENABLING OS/2 BOOT MANAGER 01/29/96 ======================================================================= Enabling OS/2 Boot Manager--All OS/2 Releases ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION The Boot Manager startup menu does not appear. RESOLUTION Making the Boot Manager Startable --------------------------------- If you installed the Boot Manager partition, and the Boot Manager startup menu does not appear, do the following to make the Boot Manager partition startable: 1. Insert the OS/2 Installation Diskette in drive A. 2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. 3. When prompted, remove the Installation Diskette and insert Diskette 1; then press Enter. 4. When the Welcome screen appears, remove the diskette from drive A. 5. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. If This Does Not Work --------------------- 1. Follow steps 1 through 3 in the previous section. When the Welcome screen appears, press F3 to get a command prompt. 2. Type FDISK and press Enter. 3. Delete the existing Boot Manager partition: a. Press Enter to display the Options menu. b. Select Delete Boot Manager Partition and press Enter. 4. Create a Boot Manager partition and install Boot Manager: a. Press Enter to display the Options menu. b. Select Add to Boot Manager menu and press Enter. c. Select Install Boot Manager and press Enter. d. Select Create at Start of Free Space and press Enter. e. Press F3 to exit. f. Remove the diskette; then restart the system. This should make the Boot Manager startable. Alternative Method for Making Boot Manager Startable ---------------------------------------------------- 1. Start the system from a DOS startable diskette. 2. Type FDISK and press Enter. 3. Make the 1 MB non-DOS partition the ACTIVE partition. (This is the OS/2 Boot Manager partition.) 4. Exit FDISK. 5.
