DESCRIPTION

This document describes how to use CID (Configuration, Installation, 
and Distribution) to install OS/2 Warp Multimedia.

RESOLUTION

Installation of Multimedia
--------------------------
MultiMedia support is fully CID enabled with OS/2 Warp versions. Since 
it requires Presentation Manager (PM) to execute, there are two steps 
to installation of MultiMedia:

1. During the initial response file install of base OS/2 it is 
   necessary for the MMOS2 files to be copied to the hard disk so that 
   they can be installed after restarting to PM. If you set the 
   keyword MultiMediaSupport=1 in the base response file, 
   the multimedia files will be copied to the \MMTEMP subdirectory on 
   the target.

2. Once you restart to PM, you will need to complete the multimedia 
   installation using the following command:

   C:\MMTEMP\MINSTALL /M

   This will install the relevant files to the \MMOS2 subdirectory and 
   clean up the \MMTEMP subdirectory.


The MINSTALL Switches

	/M	Tells MINSTALL to use the MMTEMP subdirectory as the source
	/C:	Creates a response file for the multimedia options installed
	/R:	Points to a response file to be used for the install 
                (unattended)
	/F:	Points to a control file for installing other products such 
                as Video IN and MMViewer


Installing the MultiMedia Viewer and VideoIN using CID

To install MMViewer or VideoIN using CID you must first create a 
response file. This is done as follows:

Note: This example demonstrates installation of MMViewer; 
      for VideoIN installation, substitute CONTROL.VIN as the control 
      file.

1. Install the product as normal, but also create a response file for 
   future installs. The command to do this is:

   C:\MMOS2\MINSTALL /F:X:\IMG\MMVIEWER\CONTROL.MMV 
   /C:X:\RSP\MMVIEWER\MMVIEWER.RSP

   This is a sample MMVIEWER.RSP response file:

		MMINSTSOURCE = "X:\\IMG\\MMVIEWER"
		MMINSTTARGET = "C:"
		CHANGECONFIG = "Y"
	
		MMINSTGROUPS =

   Note: The path to the source is separated by double back slash.
	
2. Once you have created the response file, use it to install the 
   product on other workstations with the following command:

   C:\MMOS2\MINSTALL /R:X:\RSP\MMVIEWER\MMVIEWER.RSP
