OSINQUAN - QUANTUM HARDCARD WITH OS/2 01/29/96 ======================================================================= Quantum Hardcard with OS/2 ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document discusses the use of the Quantum Hardcard with OS/2. RESOLUTION Access is gained to the Quantum Hardcards that use the driver, IBM1S506.ADD, by using the switch settings for a secondary controller. The switches are the adapter number and the IRQ level. If you have the Quantum XL50 or XL105 Hardcards, a BIOS upgrade is required for OS/2. Contact the vendor for assistance with Hardcard setup and BIOS upgrades. If you have a Quantum Hardcard, before installing OS/2 Warp, you must modify the BASEDEV=IBM1S506.ADD statement in the CONFIG.SYS file that is on Diskette 1. The statement should read: BASEDEV=IBM1S506.ADD /A:1 /IRQ:11 These are the default settings for the Quantum Hardcard. If you have added a device-driver statement to the CONFIG.SYS file on Diskette 1, and then later migrate your old CONFIG.SYS file, make sure there are not two copies of this statement in the file. If there are, remark-out (REM) one of the them. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
