OSINS506 - SYSTEM LOCKS UP AFTER OS/2 WARP INSTALLATION ON A DELL OPTIPLEX COMPUTER 07/12/96 ====================================================================== System Locks Up after OS/2 Warp Installation on a Dell Optiplex Computer ====================================================================== Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION You receive a message "OS/2 is unable to operate hard drive or diskette drive" at first restart after installation of OS/2 on a Dell Optiplex computer. RESOLUTION 1. Start up with the OS/2 Installation Diskette. Insert OS/2 Installation Diskette 1 when prompted, and press F3 at the Welcome screen to escape to a command prompt. 2. Type TEDIT \CONFIG.SYS and press Enter. 3. When TEDIT comes up, press Esc; then use the arrow keys to scroll through the CONFIG.SYS file. 4. Modify the CONFIG.SYS file by adding /a:0 /fl to the end of the BASEDEV=IBM1S506.ADD statement. 5. Save and exit the file; remove the diskette. 6.
