OSINSNY1 - SONY 31A CD-ROM ATTACHED TO A CARDINAL DSP16 IS NOT RECOGNIZED - OS/2 WARP 01/08/96 ======================================================================= Sony 31A CD-ROM Attached to a Cardinal DSP16 Is Not Recognized - OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedure ------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION OS/2 Warp 3.0 does not recognize the SONY 31A connected to the Cardinal DSP16 card. The Installation program requests the CD and then starts looping and repeatedly asking for the CD. RESOLUTION The port address and IRQ for the CD-ROM are incorrect. You probably downloaded the driver, SONY31A.ADD, and used the parameters specified in the User's Guide to OS/2 Warp. By default, the sound port address is 220h and the IRQ is 5. The CD-ROM is set for port address 300 and IRQ 12. Use the driver that came with OS/2 Warp and modify the SONY31A.ADD statement in the CONFIG.SYS file to read: SONY31A.ADD /A:0 /AT:05 /P:0300 /I:12 /V Note: The port address and IRQ above should be for the CD-ROM, not the sound card. /P: is the address of the CD-ROM; /I: is the IRQ of the CD-ROM drive; /V is for View (shows if the CD-ROM is recognized when the driver is loaded). ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
