OSINTPVI - BLACK SCREEN AFTER LOGO ON THE FIRST RESTART DURING INSTALLATION ON A THINKPAD 760 08/09/96 ====================================================================== Black Screen after Logo on the First Restart During Installation on a ThinkPad 760 ====================================================================== Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION On a ThinkPad 760, the system stops at a black screen after the OS/2 Logo while installing OS/2 Warp (during the first restart). RESOLUTION 1. Restart the system with the OS/2 Installation Diskette, inserting Diskette 1 when prompted. 2. Press F3 at the Welcome Screen to go to a command prompt. 3. Insert the OS/2 Warp Video Fix Diskette that came with the ThinkPad. 4. Type REPVGA X and press Enter (where X is the drive where OS/2 is being installed). 5. Remove the diskette and restart the system. 6. The installation continues; at the System Configuration screen, choose VGA for Primary Display. 7. Upon completion of the installation, repeat steps 1-5 above. 8. Install the SVGA drivers for the ThinkPad. (See the README file on the OS/2 Warp Video Fix Diskette for instructions on this procedure.)
