OSINTRMI - LOCK UP DURING INSTALL ON DISKETTE 1 OR 2 WITH TRANTOR SCSI CONTROLLER 10/24/96 ======================================================================= Lock Up during Install on Diskette 1 or Diskette 2 with Trantor SCSI Controller ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION During installation of OS/2 Warp 4 on a system with a Trantor SCSI controller, using the T358SCSI.ADD driver from the DDPak, the installation locks up on either Diskette 1 or 2. The T358SCSI.ADD driver conflicts with the MITFX001.ADD driver, which is included for Mitsumi CD-ROM drive models FX001, FX001d, LU002s, and LU005s. RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, remove the MITFX001.ADD driver from the CONFIG.SYS file: 1. Restart the system with the OS/2 Warp 4 Installation Diskette. 2. Press Alt-F1 when the small white rectangle appears in the top left corner of the screen. 3. At the Recovery Choices screen, press F2 to get to a command prompt. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen; you are prompted for Diskettes 1 and 2. 5. When the command prompt appears, reinsert Diskette 1. 6. Type TEDIT A:\CONFIG.SYS; press Enter and then Esc. 7. Search through the CONFIG.SYS file for BASEDEV = MITFX001.ADD. 8. Place a REM at the beginning of that line. It should now read: REM BASEDEV = MITFX001.ADD 9. Press F4 to save and exit the file. 10. Reinsert the OS/2 Warp 4 Installation Diskette and restart the system. Note: If the system stops before Step 5 above, use a working machine with any text editor to edit the CONFIG.SYS file on OS/2 Warp 4 Installation Diskette 1. Continue with Step 7. warp4 ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
