OSMKINTR - PROBLEM BETWEEN INTERNET CONNECTION FOR OS/2 OR TCP/IP FOR OS/2 AND AS/400 PC SUPPORT 02/05/96 ======================================================================= Problem between Internet Connection for OS/2 or TCP/IP for OS/2 and AS/400 PC Support ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When OS/2 Warp and IBM Internet Connection for OS/2 are installed along with either IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 or IBM Client Access/400 (PC Support), SYS3170 or SYS3176 errors are received when trying to open a DOS or WIN-OS/2 session. RESOLUTION A patch is available from the Internet. 1. Connect to the Internet using a modem or LAN-based access. 2. At an OS/2 command prompt (Window or Full-Screen) type MD \directory_name and press Enter to create a temporary directory; for example, MD \PJ17899. 3. Type CD \directory_name and press Enter to make the temporary directory the current working directory; for example, CD \PJ17899. 4. Type FTP FTP.PCCO.IBM.COM and press Enter to connect to the IBM PC Company server. 5. When asked for your user name, enter ANONYMOUS. Note: If a message informs you that too many users are on the site, you will have to try again later. 6. When asked for your password, enter your e-mail address; for example, user@your.host.name 7. At the ftp> prompt, type CD /PUB/TCPIP and press Enter. 8. Type BIN and press Enter to change to binary mode. 9. Type GET DBOX20C1.ZIP and press Enter to download the patch. 10. When the downloading is complete, type QUIT to end your FTP connection. The patch, DBOX20C1.ZIP, is now in your temporary directory. Use PKUNZIP.EXE to uncompress the file; then follow the instructions in the README file. Note: This patch corrects only the problem between IBM Internet Connection for OS/2 and IBM TCP/IP for OS/2.
