OSMKMS03 - LOGITECH MOUSE INFORMATION 02/05/96 ======================================================================= Logitech Mouse Information--All OS/2 Releases ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document describes what to do if the Logitech mouse does not work after installing OS/2 or after a Dual Boot from DOS. It also describes how to add a Logitech mouse. RESOLUTION Logitech Mouse Does Not Work after OS/2 Installation ---------------------------------------------------- You might need to select another mouse driver. Before 1991, Logitech sold "C-Series" (CA or C7) serial mice. Since 1991, Logitech has sold only "M-Series" Microsoft-compatible serial mice. To determine which series you have, look at the bottom of the mouse. Use Selective Install to select the correct Logitech mouse driver. Logitech Mouse Does Not Work after a Dual Boot from DOS ------------------------------------------------------- Your mouse might be running in a mode set by a DOS-based mouse device driver. If the COM2 port is being used, switch back to DOS; then type either MOUSE PC or MOUSE 2 PC and press Enter. This resets the mouse to a mode recognized by OS/2. Note: You must use the MOUSE.COM that came with the mouse. Adding a Logitech Mouse ----------------------- 1. At an OS/2 command prompt, type E CONFIG.SYS to edit the CONFIG.SYS file. 2. Ensure the following statements are present (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed; y is the COM port the mouse is using): For the C series mouse: DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS DEVICE=x:\OS2\POINTDD.SYS DEVICE=x:\OS2\PCLOGIC.SYS SERIAL=COMy DEVICE=x:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS TYPE=PCLOGIC$ For the M series mouse: DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS DEVICE=x:\OS2\POINTDD.SYS DEVICE=x:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS SERIAL=COMy For the bus mouse: DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS DEVICE=x:\OS2\POINTDD.SYS DEVICE=x:\OS2\MOUSE.SYS ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
