OSMKPLAY - EXTRA DRIVE ICONS AFTER INSTALLING PLAY AT WILL FOR PCMCIA ATA DEVICES IN OS/2 2.1 01/30/96 ======================================================================= Extra Drive Icons after Installing Play At Will for PCMCIA ATA Devices in OS/2 2.1 ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION After installing Play at Will for PCMCIA support under OS/2 2.1, the Drives folder shows additional, noninstalled drive icons. Some programs that access all drives return a SYS0039 error when trying to access these nonexistent drives. RESOLUTION Installation of Play at Will installs support for PCMCIA ATA devices. ATA devices are removable PCMCIA hard drives that are enabled when the system starts, whether or not they are installed. The ATA driver, PCM2ATA.ADD, allocates the drive letters when the system starts. Refer to the README that comes with Play at Will for the correct parameters to define the PCMCIA disks you are going to use under OS/2. If you are not going to use ATA disks, remark-out (REM) the following line in the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file: BASEDEV=PCM2ATA.ADD ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
