RESOLUTION The Intel SatisFAXtion modem comes with the DOS device driver, SATISFAX.SYS, which initializes and configures the modem at startup. This driver can be loaded from an OS/2 DOS session. Once it is loaded, the DOS session can be ended; the modem will stay configured until the system is turned off. To configure the DOS session and the driver: 1. Install the software that came with the modem as described in the modem's manual. Make sure you remember the port address that the modem is using. 2. Drag a Program object from the Templates folder to the Startup folder. (By default, the Templates folder is on the Desktop and the Startup folder is in the OS/2 System folder.) A Settings notebook will be displayed. 3. Enter an * in the Path and filename field. 4. Enter /c EXIT in the Parameters field. 5. Go to the Session page; then select DOS Window. 6. Click on DOS settings. 7. Click on OK; this will select ALL DOS settings. 8. Find the DOS_DEVICE setting and enter the following: x:\SFAX\SATISFAX.SYS IOADDR=XXXX (x is the drive letter where the Intel SatisFAXtion software is installed; SFAX is the directory where the software was installed; XXXX is the I/O address the modem is using. 9. Click on Save. 10. Close the Settings notebook. The next time you start the system, it will start a DOS session that loads SATISFAX.SYS; then it will exit. The modem then should work. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
