OSMMAZTC - AUDIO CHIP CS-4231 DETECTED ON MOST SYSTEMS IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE DRIVER LOADED 10/08/96 ======================================================================= Audio Chip CS-4231 Detected on Most Systems is Not Supported by the Driver Loaded ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION The audio plug-in card with the CS-4231 chipset and the Aztec ASIC is improperly detected as a standard CS-4231 audio chipset, which is the chipset in the IBM PC750. As a result, the audio driver loaded does not actually support the audio card. One symptom of this occurs running the MACAW.AVI file shipped with OS/2 Warp 4. The movie plays, but any attempt to close it will cause the system to lock up. RESOLUTION The sniffer program generically detects the CS-4231 audio chipset in order to support the IBM PC750. To the resolve the problem: 1. Open the OS/2 System folder. 2. Double click on System Setup. 3. Open the Install/Remove folder. 4. Double click on Selective Install. 5. Select Multimedia Device Support. 6. Select Remove, to remove Crystal Audio CS-4231 from the Devices in System to be installed window. 7. Select the correct Supported Device type for your audio adapter, then select OK. warp4 ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
