If you load any of the drivers that come with OS/2 Warp, system sounds play, but there is no MIDI support. You also might see the following error message: SYS1201: The device driver "??????.???" specified in the *** command on line *** of CONFIG.SYS file was not installed. Line *** is ignored. RESOLUTION 1. Download the 700AUD.EXE file from either: * PC Company Web Site (http://www.pc.ibm.com/) in the "File Area," or * The IBM BBS (919-517-0001) 2. Install MMPM/2 support without loading any specific sound-card driver. Note: If you have already installed MMPM with a specific driver, manually remove it and then reinstall it as follows: a. At the Configuration screen during installation or Selective Install, make sure the Multimedia Device Support section specifies None. b. At the OS/2 Setup and Installation screen, make sure there is a check mark in the Multimedia section. OS/2 Warp should start without any MMPM error messages, and the MMPM folder should be on the Desktop. 3. Open an OS/2 Window session. 4. Create a temporary directory and place the 700AUD.EXE file in it. Note: You could also place the file on diskette. 5. At a command prompt in the temporary directory, type 700AUD.EXE and press Enter to extract the bundled files. 6. Open the MMPM folder; then select Multimedia Application Install. 7. Specify the temporary directory (where the extracted 700AUD files are) as the source drive. 8. Highlight the three selections in the Features section: * IBM PC 700 Series Crystal Semi Audio * IBM PC 700 Series OPL3 MIDI * Crystal Semi WIN-OS/2 Audio These selections will provide sounds in both OS/2 and WIN-OS/2. 9. Follow the instructions on the installation screens. Be sure to set up the sound chip on available hardware settings. 10. Shut down and then restart the system. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
