OSMMREEL - REELMAGIC SOUND-CARD EMULATION IN OS/2 WARP AND OS/2 WARP FULLPACK 01/25/96 ======================================================================= ReelMagic Sound-Card Emulation in OS/2 Warp and OS/2 Warp Fullpack ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION MMPM/2 provides support for MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) playback using ReelMagic. You must select both ReelMagic Audio and ReelMagic Video options. The only cards that support MPEG Audio under OS/2 are Sound Blaster cards. If you are using a ReelMagic card in your system, set the resolution to 640x480 at 256 colors. Otherwise, results will be unpredictable. RESOLUTION Set the ReelMagic sound card to emulate popular sound cards. To do this, you need to change the CONFIG.SYS file. 1. At a command prompt, type E CONFIG.SYS and press Enter. 2. Change: DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\RMAUDIO.SYS /P260 /N:RMAUD1$ To: DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\RMAUDIO.SYS /P260 U:1 V:240 W:5 X:1 /N:RMAUD1$ Valid values for U (Enable wave-audio portion of the card): U:1 (Enable) U:0 (Disable) Valid values for V (I/O port address for wave-audio device): V:220 V:240 Valid values for W (Interrupt number for wave-audio device): X:1 X:2 X:3 3. Save and exit the file; then shut down and restart the system. You might be able to find an audio device driver you can install through Selective Install that will allow you to play .WAV files and system sounds on the ReelMagic card. This will make it possible for DOS games and applications to use the wave-audio portion of the card. Note: The DEVICE statement for the new audio driver must be after the DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\RMAUDIO.SYS statement to enable the wave-audio portion of the ReelMagic cards. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
