OSMMUMAL - DOWNLOADING ULTIMAIL LITE/2 VERSION 2.100.004 6/25/96 ====================================================================== Downloading Ultimail Lite/2 Version 2.10.004 ====================================================================== Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION Instructions for obtaining the latest version of the Ultimedia Mail/2 Lite (commonly referred to as Ultimail Lite/2) application. RESOLUTION Accessing FTP from an OS/2 Window or Full-Screen Session 1. From the prompt of an OS/2 Window or Full-Screen session, type the following and press Enter. FTP TESTCASE.BOULDER.IBM.COM 2. Once you are connected to the server, enter the following information at the prompt and pressing Enter after each: Name (testcase.boulder.ibm.com): anonymous Password: anonymous 3. You should now see the ftp> prompt. Type the following and press Enter. cd /ps/fromibm/umlite 4. If you enter the DIR command from the ftp> prompt, you will see that you are now in the UMLITE subdirectory. Located in this subdirectory is the file, UMF21004.ZIP This is the file required for updating the Ultimail Lite/2 Application. 5. At the ftp> prompt, type bin and press Enter. This ensures that you are in binary mode for downloading the zip file. You should see "Type set to I" as a response. 6. Type get umf21004.zip and press Enter. The message "Opening BINARY mode data connection for umf21004.zip (2622073 bytes)" is displayed. 7. A message indicating the transfer and the number of bytes received is displayed. 8. Type bye and press Enter. This disconnects you from the FTP server. 9. The file should now be located in the root directory of the drive where OS/2 is installed. 10. Create a TEMP subdirectory, if you do not have one. At the root prompt, type MD TEMP and press Enter. 11. Type copy UMF21004.ZIP X:\TEMP\ and press Enter (where X is the drive that OS/2 is installed on). 12. Type CD TEMP and press Enter. You are now in the TEMP subdirectory and should see the UMF21004.ZIP file. 13. Using PKUNZIP.EXE, unzip the UMF21004.ZIP file. 14. Using the system editor, open the README.UML file. Type E README.UML (or TEDIT README.UML) and press Enter. 15. Follow the instructions given in the README.UML file. 16. If you need further assistance, contact the IBM OS/2 Support Line. Accessing FTP from the IBM WebExplorer ----------------------------------- 1. Open the IBM WebExplorer application. Type the following in the URL address area and press Enter. ftp://testcase.boulder.ibm.com/ps/fromibm/umlite 2. "Index of /ps/fromibm/umlite" is now displayed. 3. The file, umf21004.zip, is highlighted in blue. 4. Double-click on the file name to begin the download process. 5. In the dialogue box, type the directory where you want the file to be placed. 6. Once the download has completed, close the IBM WebExplorer. 7. Open an OS/2 Window or Full-Screen session. 8. Create a TEMP subdirectory, if you do not have one. At the root prompt, type MD TEMP and press Enter. 9. Type copy UMF21004.ZIP X:\TEMP\ and press Enter (where X is the drive OS/2 is installed on). 10. Type CD TEMP and press Enter. You are now in the TEMP subdirectory and should see the UMF21004.ZIP file. 11. Using PKUNZIP.EXE, unzip the UMF21004.ZIP file. 12. Using the system editor, open the README.UML file. Type E README.UML (or TEDIT README.UML) and press Enter. 13. Follow the instructions given in the README.UML file. 14.
