OSVI9577 - INSTALLING S3 DRIVERS ON THE IBM PS/2 9577 SERIES 02/02/96 ======================================================================= Installing S3 Drivers on the IBM PS/2 9577 Series All OS/2 Releases ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION This document contains instructions for installing S3 drivers on the 9577 series. RESOLUTION 1. Start the system and open a DOS Full Screen session. 2. Insert the Local Bus Graphics Device Drivers diskette in drive A. 3. Type A: and press Enter. 4. Type INST7677 and press Enter. 5. At the Main Menu, select VESA SVGA BIOS Extension and Configure Display Profile; then press Enter. 6. Select the appropriate display type and press Enter. The Local Bus Graphics Setup Main Menu appears. 7. Press F3 to exit. 8. Exit the DOS session. 9. Shut down and then restart the system. 10. Close all applications running in the background. 11. Open an OS/2 Full Screen session. 12. Insert the Local Bus Graphics Device Driver diskette in drive A. 13. At the A: prompt, type A:S3INST A: C: and press Enter (A: is the source directory of the driver; C: is the drive where OS/2 is installed). 14. Press Enter when prompted. 15. When the process is complete, shut down and then restart the system. 16. Open an OS/2 Full Screen session. 17. At the command line, type DSPINSTL and press Enter. 18. Select Primary Display and then 32 Bit Display drivers. 19. Install, using the monitor defaults. 20. Select OK; the monitor flashes when the PMI file is generated. 21. Select Install. Make sure the device-driver diskette is in drive A. 22. When the process is complete, shut down and then restart the system. When the system starts, the resolution is 640x480x256. To change the resolution: 1. Open OS/2 System. 2. Open System Setup. 3. Select System. The first screen displays the resolutions available for the system. 4. Select a resolution; then close System. 5.
