OSVICILO - SETTING UP A CIRRUS LOGIC VIDEO CARD UNDER OS/2 WARP 07/11/96 ======================================================================= Setting up a Cirrus Logic Video Card under OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION The screen is repainting slowly. RESOLUTION 1. Download the latest Cirrus Logic video drivers from the IBM BBS (919-517-0001). 2. Follow the instructions in the README file to create the diskette image using LOADDSKF. 3. At the command prompt, type the following and press Enter to install the drivers (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed): A:SETUP A: x: 4. When prompted, shut down and then restart the system. 5. Open the OS/2 System folder. 6. Open the System Setup folder; then select Display Driver Install. 7. Select Primary Display; then select OK. 8. Select Cirrus Logic 5426, 5428, 5430, 5434 (IBM BBS); then select OK. 9. Insert the drivers diskette in drive A. When prompted, press Install. 10. Select Utility for the Monitor Type when prompted. 11. Insert the diskette that comes with the video card in drive A: and type A:\PROMODE.COM and press Enter. Note: Older video adapters come with CLMODE.COM. If PROMODE.COM does not work, look for CLMODE.COM on the diskette that came with the adapter and type A:\CLMODE.COM instead. If the system has a built-in video chip set, search the entire hard disk for the appropriate program by using C:>DIR CLMODE*/S or C:>DIR PROMODE*/S. 12. Select Monitors from the menu. 13. At the end of the list, select Custom. Note: This is recommended even if the monitor in use is listed. 14. Select the each resolution and refresh rate desired. Note: The 640 x 480 resolution should always be set to a 60-Hz refresh rate. A black screen will appear with a message requesting you to center the screen using the arrow keys. Note: If the refresh rate is too high, the message in the black screen will be distorted. Press Esc and select a lower refresh rate for the same resolution. 15. Select Save and Exit. 16. When prompted, shut down and then restart the system. 17. Open the OS/2 System folder. 18. Open the System Setup folder; then select System and choose the resolution desired. 19.
