OSVIDSC - INSTALLING A VIDEO DEVICE DRIVER AFTER RECEIVING A *.DSC ERROR 02/01/96 ======================================================================= Installing a Video Device Driver after Receiving a *.DSC Error All OS/2 Warp Releases ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION Cannot install a video device driver because of an invalid argument count in the .DSC files. RESOLUTION Note: The following resolution is for IBM video device drivers. If you are using non-IBM drivers, contact your supplier. For this procedure you will need the Installation diskettes or OS/2 CD. 1. Go to an OS/2 command prompt. 2. Type CD\OS\INSTALL and press Enter. 3. Type MD TEMP and press Enter to create the TEMP subdirectory. 4. Type COPY *.* x:\OS2\INSTALL\TEMP and press Enter (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed). 5. Type the following and press Enter after each. DEL *.DSC DEL INSTALL.EXE DEL DSPINSTL.EXE Notes: In the following: * For OS/2 Warp, use DISK_0, DISK_4, and DISK_6. * For OS/2 Warp with WIN-OS2, use DISK_1, DISK_4, and DISK_6. * For OS/2 Warp Connect with WIN-OS/2, use DISK_1, DISK_4, and DISK_6. * For the the CD-ROM version, use the OS/2 CD. DO NOT use diskettes. * For the diskette version, use the appropriate diskettes. 6. Unpack the bundle files located on the above disks. a. For the CD-ROM version, insert the OS/2 CD in the CD-ROM drive; the type the following and press Enter: UNPACK x:\OS2IMAGE\DISK_n\BUNDLE y: where: x = CD_ROM drive letter n = Disk number from above (one at a time please) y = OS/2 drive letter. b. For the diskette version, insert the appropriate diskette (see the Note above); then type the following and press Enter: UNPACK A:\BUNDLE y: where y = OS/2 drive letter 7. Reinstall the video device driver.
