OSVISYS2 - SYS0002 ERROR WHEN RESETTING VIDEO TO VGA WITH SETVGA 01/30/96 ======================================================================= SYS0002 Error when Resetting Video to VGA with SETVGA OS/2 2.1 and OS/2 2.11 ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When using SETVGA to reset video to VGA, error message SYS0002 is received. Another error also could appear. RESOLUTION You are receiving the SYS0002 error message because the SVGADATA.PMI file was not created. Note: In the following procedure: * If your system came with OS/2 2.1 pre-installed, use the Utility diskettes to get to the command prompt. * x is the drive where OS/2 is installed. 1. Insert the OS/2 Installation Diskette in drive A and press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. 2. When prompted, remove the Installation Diskette and insert Diskette 1; then press Enter. 3. When the Welcome Screen appears, press Esc to get to a command prompt. 4. Type DIR x:\OS2\RSPDSPI.EXE and press Enter to see if RSPDSPI.EXE is in the \OS2 directory. If the file is NOT there: a. Insert Diskette 8 in drive A. b. Type x:\OS2\UNPACK A:\INSTALL x: /N:RSPDSPI.EXE and press Enter. c. Type the following, pressing Enter after each, to change to the drive where OS/2 is installed and then to the \OS2 directory: x: CD \OS2 d. For systems with OS/2 2.1 pre-installed, type the following and press Enter: \INSTALL\RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:x:\OS2\INSTALL\DSPDRVS /T:x: For other OS/2 2.1 systems, type the following and press Enter: \INSTALL\RSPDSPI /PK:VGA /SK:NONE /S:X:\ /T:x: 5. Type DEL SVGADATA.PMI and press Enter to delete SVGADATA.PMI file from the \OS2 directory. Note: For systems with OS/2 2.1 pre-installed, you need to unpack the VGA files. Remove the diskette from drive A; then restart system for the changes to take effect. 7. Do a Selective Install of VGA support: Systems with OS/2 2.1 Pre-Installed: ------------------------------------ a. Open Configuration Tools. b. Select Configure. c. Select Primary Display. d. Select Video Graphics Array. e. Select OK. f. Select OK. g. Select Install. h. Follow the instructions on the screen. Other OS/2 2.1 Systems: ----------------------- a. Open OS/2 System. b. Open System Setup. c. Open Command Prompts. d. Select OS/2 Window. e. Type DSPINSTL.EXE and press Enter. f. Select Primary Display. g. Select OK. h. Select Video Graphics Array. i. Select OK. j. Follow the instructions on the screen. 8. Remove the diskette from drive A; then shut down and restart the system. 9. Open a DOS Full Screen session and run SVGA ON. 10.
