Question 1

How do I change the resolution of the OS/2 Display Drivers in OS/2 Warp?

   You can change the resolution for many of OS/2 Display Drivers by 
   using the System icon. This procedure is described in the README
   file located in the root directory where OS/2 is installed.

Question 2

My OS/2 Warp driver for the S3 964 Video Chipset does not install in 
high resolution for Number 9 or Diamond video cards.  What should I do?

   The OS/2 Warp driver for the S3 964 Video Chipset from Number 9 and
   Diamond does not install in high resolution. You must contact
   Number 9 or Diamond for assistance.

How do I set the refresh rate for ATI MACH 32 and MACH 64 drivers?

   ATI MACH 32 and MACH 64 drivers need to be set for refresh rate and
   resolution.  It is strongly suggested that users follow the 
   instructions in the ATI MACH fax from OS/2 Technical Support.  To
   get the FAX, please call 1-800-IBM-4FAX, and request document 3108.

I've got a new video adapter; can I just change a line in CONFIG.SYS to 
have access to it? 

   No. Using video is a complex process, and you have to go through an
   installation procedure in order to make sure the video (display) 
   adapter and its drivers work. There are actually five drivers needed
   to run your display and each of the five has a specific purpose.
   You'll need to add each of them. To do so, use the Selective Install
   program in the System Setup folder. The following list gives you an
   idea of what's involved:

   * For full screen OS/2 Warp sessions there is a base video handler 
     that is established in CONFIG.SYS with a line like SET VIO_XGA=. 

   * To run your Presentation Manager (PM) sessions there is a 
     Presentation driver, and the OS2.INI file maintains the
     configuration information. Unlike Windows, OS/2 Warp .INI files
     aren't text based so even if you know what information to insert
     in the file, you can't easily access the file. 

   * For DOS VDM (virtual DOS machine) sessions, information about your
     display is found in a DEVICE= line in CONFIG.SYS. 

   * For WIN-OS/2 full screen sessions there's a DISPLAY.DRV= line in 
     the SYSTEM.INI file. 

   * For running WIN-OS/2 applications on the OS/2 Warp desktop, 
     there's a statement starting with SDISPLAY= in the SYSTEM.INI file.

What's the difference between interlaced and non-interlaced monitors?

   The terms refer to the method used to refresh the monitor screen. 
   Screens have lines of pixels, which are refreshed (redrawn) at
   frequent intervals. The refreshing starts at the top line and moves
   to the bottom.
 
   An interlaced monitor refreshes the odd-numbered lines from top to 
   bottom, and then refreshes the even-numbered lines from top to
   bottom. It "interlaces" the process. 

   A non-interlaced monitor refreshes all the lines each time a refresh 
   pass occurs and reduces the amount of flicker you might perceive.
