OSWAATMI - WINDOWS APPLICATIONS CANNOT ACCESS ATM FONTS, OR ATM IS INACTIVE - ALL OS/2 RELEASES 03/01/96 ======================================================================= Windows Applications Cannot Access ATM fonts, or ATM Is Inactive--All OS/2 Releases ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION * The ATM control panel has Inactive for the version number. * The ATM control panel is active but Windows applications do not have access to ATM fonts. * ATM fonts are not installed. RESOLUTION Turn ATM on in both the WIN-OS/2 Settings and the ATM control panel. Also, set the default WIN-OS/2 printer driver to something other than Generic/Text Only. If that does not help, check the SYSTEM.INI and make sure that the SYSTEM.DRV line points to ATMSYS.DRV, and that the following line is in the [Boot] section: ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV If no ATM fonts are installed in WIN-OS/2, the \PSFONTS\PFM directory has some that can be installed. Detailed steps to resolve the problem follow. In the following procedure, step 1 applies to OS/2 Warp only; steps 2 through 5 apply to all OS/2 versions. 1. Change the WIN_ATM setting in the WIN-OS/2 settings: a. Click on the icon for the Windows application with mouse button 2. b. Select Settings. c. Select Session. d. Select WIN-OS/2 Settings. e. Select OK for All DOS and WIN-OS/2 settings. f. Change WIN_ATM from Off to On. g. Save the settings. Notes: * Changing the WIN_ATM setting in WIN-OS/2 Setup from the System Setup folder will NOT affect Windows applications that have been migrated already. * Changing the settings in WIN-OS/2 Full Screen will NOT affect Windows applications launched from the Desktop. * If a Windows application that has WIN_ATM set to Off is launched first, all other Windows applications will run with WIN_ATM set to Off. 2. Turn ATM on from the ATM control panel: a. Open the OS/2 System folder. b. Open the Command Prompts folder. c. Select WIN-OS/2 Full Screen. d. Open the Adobe Type Manager group. e. Start ATM Control Panel. f. Change the ATM radio button from Off to On. 3. Change the default WIN-OS/2 printer: a. In the WIN-OS/2 Full Screen session, open the Main group. b. Open the Control Panel. c. Double-click on the Printer icon. d. If a printer driver other than Generic/Text Only is installed already, set it as the default; otherwise, install a new one and then set IT as the default. 4. Check the SYSTEM.INI file: a. Open the OS/2 System folder. b. Open the Command Prompts folder. c. Select OS/2 Window. d. Edit the SYSTEM.INI file: * For Fullpack systems, type the following and press Enter (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed): E x:\OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\SYSTEM.INI * For Halfpack systems, type the following and press Enter (x is the drive where Windows is installed): E x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI e. Verify that the following lines are in the [Boot] section of the SYSTEM.INI file: SYSTEM.DRV=ATMSYS.DRV ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV 5. Instructions for installing ATM fonts: a. Open the OS/2 System folder. b. Open the Command Prompts folder. c. Select WIN-OS/2 Full Screen. d. Open the Adobe Type Manager group. e. Start ATM Control Panel. f. Select Add. g. Select the x:\PSFONTS\PFM directory (x is the drive where OS/2 is installed). h. Highlight all listed fonts. i. Select Add again. j.
