OSWASHAR - SHARING VIOLATION WHEN STARTING WINDOWS APPLICATIONS IN OS/2 WARP 01/15/96 ======================================================================= Sharing Violation when Starting Windows Applications in OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When opening a new document, a template file, an existing file, or an existing document from the File menu option, a sharing violation occurs. RESOLUTION Note: In the following procedure: * is the directory where Windows is installed. For OS/2 2.1 for Windows and OS/2 Warp, it is probably x:\WINDOWS. For OS/2 2.11 and OS/2 Warp Fullpack, it is probably x:\OS2\MDOS\WINOS2. * x is the drive where OS/2 is installed. 1. Start an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full Screen session. 2. At the command prompt, type E AUTOEXEC.BAT and press Enter. 3. Add the following after the PATH statement: SET TEMP=x:\\TEMP 4. Select File and then Save. 5. If no file type is associated with the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, select Type, and Plain Text, and then Set. 6. Start a DOS Full Screen session. 7. At the command prompt, type CD and press Enter. 8. Type COPY CON SHARE.EXE and press Enter twice. 9. Make sure no Windows applications or WIN-OS/2 sessions are running; then press F6. 10.
