RESOLUTION Question 1 Do I need my Windows Diskettes or CD when I am installing OS/2 Warp? During the installation of OS/2 Warp over a system already running Windows, you will be required to use your Windows installation CD or diskettes. Please ensure that you have them available. If not, please refer to page 4 in your OS/2 Warp Version 3.0 User's Guide. Question 2 I am receiving GP faults when I try to use or launch my Quicken for Windows 4.0. How do I fix this? If you have Quicken for Windows version 4.0 and are receiving intermittent GP (General Protection) faults when using, launching, or closing an application, the problem has been determined to be in the Quicken application. Please contact INTUIT for the available patch. Question 3 I am not getting WIN-OS/2 support after installing OS/2 Warp. What do I do? If DOS and Windows are not installed, you can install it after OS/2 Warp. Restart OS/2 Warp and use the Selective Install Utility to install WIN-OS/2 support. Question 4 I am trying to install OS/2 Warp over multiple copies of Windows. For example, Windows 3.1 on Drive C, and Windows 3.11 on Logical Drive E. Is this possible? OS/2 Warp does not support multiple copies of Windows. Question 5 The networking function under Windows for Workgroups does not seem to work. How can I communicate? The Peer-to-Peer Networking function in Windows for Workgroups is not enabled under OS/2 Warp. Boot into DOS to use this function. Question 6 The Mouse is not functioning in WIN-OS/2. How can I configure it? There are probably IRQ conflicts between the serial ports. Please refer to page 174 in your User's Guide to OS/2 Warp to resolve the IRQ conflict. Also refer to pages 180, 194, and 206 for information on setting the IRQs. Question 7 Can I run WIN32S applications in OS/2 Warp? WIN32S applications should be installed in a WIN-OS/2 full screen session. You can run the applications from a WIN-OS/2 full screen or window session. Question 8 OS/2 Warp changes several Windows files during installation. Is there a listing of the changed files? The following Windows files are Modified during OS/2 Warp installation: WIN.INI SYSTEM.INI WIN.COM CONTROL.INI PROGMAN.INI SETUP.INF CONTROL.INF. Question 9 I have installed OS/2 Warp and lost access to Adobe Type Manager 3.0 for Windows. Installing OS/2 Warp on a system with Adobe Type Manager 3.0 will "backlevel" to ATM version 2.5. Question 10 Programs written for Microsoft Windows 3.0 and 3.1 run slowly under OS/2 Warp. How do I enhance the performance of these programs under OS/2 Warp? You need to change some DOS settings: 1. Place the mouse pointer on a blank area of the Desktop and press mouse button 2. 2. Select System Setup. 3. Select the WIN-OS/2 Setup icon. 4. Select WIN-OS/2 Settings.... 5. Select All DOS and WIN-OS/2 Settings. 6. Highlight each of the following in the Settings window and change them as shown: DOS_HIGH = ON DOS_FILE = 50 (default is 20) DPMI_MEM_LIMIT = 32 or 64 (default is 0 to 4) HW_ROM_to_RAM = ON (default is OFF) IDLE_SECONDS = 60 (default is 0) IDLE_SENSITIVITY = 100 (default is 75) 7.
