OSWPLOCK - ERROR WHEN SELECTING LOCKUP FROM DESKTOP MENU IN OS/2 2.1 OR OS/2 WARP 01/23/96 ======================================================================= Error when Selecting Lockup from Desktop Menu in OS/2 2.1 or OS/2 Warp ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION A SYSxxxx error or trap screen appears when selecting the Lockup option from the Desktop menu, or when trying to access Lockup Settings. The Lockup error happens again when the system is shut down and restarted. RESOLUTION 1. Start the system with the OS/2 Installation Diskette. 2. When prompted, remove Installation Diskette and insert Diskette 1. 3. Press Esc to display the OS/2 command prompt. 4. Insert Diskette 2. 5. Type one of the following and press Enter: * For FAT system: CHKDSK C: /F * For HPFS: CHKDSK C: /F:2 6. Run CHKDSK until no errors are reported. 7. Change directories to the OS2 subdirectory on the drive where OS/2 is installed. 8. Type MAKEINI OS2.INI LOCK.RC. 9. Remove the diskette from drive A; then restart the system. Performing MAKEINI against the OS2.INI file using LOCK.RC, removes ALL information about the Lockup option from the INI file, including the password and bit map for lockup.
