OSWPPRDT - OS/2 WARP 4 SAVES ALL PREVIOUS DESKTOP ICONS IN THE "PREVIOUS DESKTOP" FOLDER. 09/26/96 ======================================================================= OS/2 Warp 4 Saves All Previous Desktop Icons in the "Previous Desktop" Folder. ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When installing OS/2 Warp 4 on a computer that has a previous version of OS/2 installed, the installation program creates a Previous Desktop folder on the new Desktop and saves all of the old icons in that folder. RESOLUTION If you install OS/2 Warp 4 over a previous version of OS/2, your previous Desktop is replaced with the new OS/2 Warp 4 Desktop. However, your previous Desktop is stored in a folder called Previous Desktop. You can open this Previous Desktop folder and drag and drop any of your previous icons and folders onto the new OS/2 Warp 4 Desktop. You may want to size the Previous Desktop after you open the folder so you can more easily manipulate the objects when you drag and drop them onto the new desktop. Note: The default drag and drop operation for OS/2 Warp 4 is to create a shadow. Therefore, by default, if you drag and drop icons from your Previous Desktop folder to the new Desktop, you will create shadows. If you then delete the original icons from the Previous Desktop folder, the shadows will also be deleted. To avoid this, either: * Press the Shift key as you drag and drop the icons, to perform a move instead of creating a shadow, or * Change the Desktop Properties to default to a Move operation: - Right click on the Desktop - Select Properties - Select the Desktop tab - Click on Default Drop Operation Move warp4 ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
