OSWPWMDB - OS/2 WARP SEARCHES MIGRATION DATABASE AND ASSIGNS SETTINGS 01/15/96 ======================================================================= OS/2 Warp Searches Migration Database and Assigns Settings ======================================================================= Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures -------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION When you create an icon with customized settings and try to activate it in the Templates folder, you discover other settings were automatically assigned. The settings must be manually changed. RESOLUTION Note: In OS/2 Warp, any new program that has an entry in the database, adopts the default settings described in the database. This is working as designed. OS/2 Warp has a feature that searches the migration database and assigns settings for application matches. Each application on the Desktop has an EXE name. OS/2 Warp checks the migration database for this name. If a name exists in the database, OS/2 assigns the same settings to this object that match those in the migration database. This might be a problem if a new version of an application has different settings. ______________________________________________________________________ IBM disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation, warranties of fitness and merchantability with respect to the information in this document.
