IBM Update Connector TM February, 2003 Version 5.30 Description ------------- IBM Update Connector (UC) is a software program that downloads data updates, other software programs, and software updates from an IBM server directly from the Internet without requiring specific user knowledge. You only need to start Update Connector on your machine to be connected to the Update Connector database on IBM's Universal Content Server (UCS). Once connected, Update Connector automatically determines whether your system needs available updates and, if so, it downloads and installs them at your option. Update Connector automatically recognizes machine types and models as well as software versions and other criteria when figuring which updates to download. Before, getting updates for your system was complicated and difficult. Now it's simple with IBM Update Connector. What IBM Update Connector can do for you : - Helps connect you to the Internet. - Generates information about your system. - Analyzes your system to select only updates which are appropriate for and needed by your system. - Allows you to select which updates you want to download and/or install. - Gets the updates from the IBM Help Center. - Helps you view, download, install and uninstall updates on your system. - Allows you to manage your own system (Self-Managed Mode) or manage your own system as well as other systems on your LAN (SMB LAN Mode). Applicable Systems ------------------------ Selected IBM ThinkPad, IBM NetVista, IBM Aptiva. Note: This web download of IBM Update Connector 5.30 is for use only by IBM systems that came preloaded with IBM Update Connector.
