NumberNine video BIOS update README This package performs a flash update of the video basic input/output system (BIOS) that controls the NumberNine video adapter that comes preinstalled in your IBM(R) Aptiva(R) computer. This update also resolves potential lockup problems associated with the suspend and resume functions of the video adapter. NOTE: BIOS is programming that controls low-level hardware operations, including interactions with diskette drives, hard disk drives, and the keyboard. The BIOS is stored on a chip. Your computer uses flash BIOS, which can be updated through a program on a flash diskette so that you do not have to replace the BIOS chip to update the BIOS. This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva machine types 2171-xx, 2172-xx, and 2174-xx that come with a NumberNine video adapter with 8 MB of static dynamic random access memory (SDRAM). Determining which video adapter is installed in your computer ------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Right-click on the My Computer icon. 2. Click Properties. 3.
