ScrollPoint II mouse device driver version 1.45 README This update package installs the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 device driver for the ScrollPoint II mouse that comes preinstalled in your IBM(R) Aptiva(R) computer. This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva machine types 2170-xx, 2171-xx, and 2174-xx, and resolves the following issues: 1.45 - Update Traditional/Simplified Chinese and French text defects. - Fixed setup GPF issue. - Fixed INF install issue. 1.42 - Fixed setup can not update older dirver problem - Add IBM 2D Mouse picture into Control Panel 1.41 - Fixed setup issue from a folder on the desktop under NT4 - Update Simplified Chinese help file 1.40 - Fixed PCDoctor MOUSTEST issue - Update Japanese help file - Update Simplified Chinese help file - Fixed Visual Test issue Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start -> Find -> Files and folders. 2. Type ak1z00us.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the ak1z00us.exe file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the icon for ak1z00us.exe. When prompted for an installation folder leave the default setting of C:\DRIVERS\AK1Z00US. 4. Close all open applications. 5. Select Start -> Programs -> MS-DOS Prompt. 6. Type cd \DRIVERS\AK1Z00US, then press Enter. 7. Type SETUP, then press Enter. 8. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the device driver. 9. Shut down and restart your computer so that the changes take effect. Testing for successful installation ----------------------------------- 1. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 2. Click Mouse. 3. Click the Mouse Suite tab. 4. If the update was succesful, the version is shown as 1.45.
