IBM ThinkPad March 1, 2001 CE Utility Diskette Version 1.12 ====================================================================== What This Diskette Does ----------------------- This CE Utility Diskette enables you to set some function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad i Series 1200(1161-42U/62U/92U) - ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171-5WU/5BU/7WU/6LU/9LU) Released Version ---------------- Version 1.12 Initial release Summary of Change ----------------- Key: Diskette Version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New Function or Enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.12> - (New) Support for ThinkPad i Series 1200(1161-42U/62U/92U) ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171-5WU/5BU/7WU/6LU/9LU) Installation Instructions ------------------------- Power on the computer with this diskette in the diskette drive. After the systems starts up, the following message should appear: 1. LCD Panel ID Utility 2. Themal Senser Utility 3. VPD Utility 4. UUID Data Utility 5. License Message 6. Quit You can only test a single item at a time. Once that item has been tested, you must restart the computer to test another item. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Implementation Limitation: - Diskette can not be write protected. Note: How to Input data for VPD Utility 1. Build ID(only 5th to 6th byte) First you need to get the BIOS version No. 1-1. Power on the system. 1-2. When the message "Press F1 for IBM BIOS setup Utility" appears at the bottom left hand corner, press the "F1" key. 1-3. Wait for "BIOS Utility" screen appears. 1-4. Select "System Information". 1-5. BIOS version is displayed at "System BIOS Version" line. 1-6. Refer to the "System Program Information" section in the BIOS readme file to get the BIOS Build ID which corresponds to the BIOS version. 1-7. Enter the 5th to 6th digit for the build ID. e.g. If the BIOS Build ID is "KWUF54WW", just enter three digit ID No. as following: 54 2. Box Serial Number(14 bytes) e.g. If the barcode label at the bottom of notebook shows "TYPE 1161-210 S/N AA-D9PYR", just enter as below; 1161210AAD9PYR You don't need to enter "TYPE", "S/N", dashes, or spaces 3. Plannar Serial Number(17 bytes) If the barcode label under the memory module says like ---------------------- 11S5543C01041AADBVYL IBM FRU P/N: 12H2153 ---------------------- enter as below; 12H2153041AADBVY1 where "12H2153" comes from IBM FRU P/N and "041AADBVYL" comes from last 10 digit of first line.
