Abstract: A small number of PC 330/350 6577 or 6587 systems equipped with 2.5 GB IDE hard drives may experience data manipulation without notification in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95. The likelihood of data manipulation occurring is highly dependent on system timings, hard drive timings, installed IDE devices, device drivers, and operating systems. The probability of meeting all conditions and dependencies required for data manipulation to occur is extremely low. Conditions: Use this program only if the following three conditions are met: 1. If you are using a PC350 6577 or 6587 systems equipped with a 2.5 GB IDE hard drive with P/N 46H3431/FRU 76H0961 -or- P/N 46H3282/FRU 76H0961. -and- 2. If you are using any other IDE device (i.e. non-SCSI CD-Rom drive, 2nd IDE hard drive, etc.) in conjunction with the 2.5 GB IDE hard drive mentioned above. -and- 3. If you are using one of the following a Bus Master IDE device drivers. ***Verifying use of a Bus Master IDE device driver*** ***in Windows NT 4.0********************************* 1. Function: This program modifies DMA/PIO transfer mode parameters built into the hard drive so the operating system detects PIO mode-3 and DMA mode-1 instead of PIO mode-4 and DMA mode-2. Installation Instructions: 1. Shutdown your Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95 operating system. 2. Power off the PC. 3. Insert the diskette created by 25gbfix.exe and turn on the PC. 4. Wait until the status bar has reached 100 Percent processed 5. Remove the diskette and power off the PC. 6. Reboot for the changes to take effect.
