SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION NDIS 3.1 and NDIS 4.0 Miniport Drivers for the IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter Installation Instructions for Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT 3.51 INSTALLATION -- Windows 95 -------------------------- NOTE: Before installing the network driver, make sure that your network card is plugged into a live Token-Ring network. 1. Windows 95 is a plug and play operating system. In order for Windows 95 to recognize the network adapter, the adapter must be physically installed in the system. Once the card has been physically installed in the system, simply turn the system on. Windows 95 should recognize the adapter. 2. If this is the first time Windows 95 has ever seen the adapter, then Windows 95 will present a dialog box with several choices. Make sure "Driver Diskette from Manufacturer" is selected and click OK. 3. Windows 95 will prompt for a path to the driver diskette. If you are installing from a diskette, put the driver diskette into the diskette drive and type in the drive letter of the diskette (usually "A:\") and press . Note: If installing from CD-ROM, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive and type the path to the CD-ROM drive, and press . 4. Windows 95 will install the driver as well as some network protocols. Make sure that the original install files for Windows 95 are available; it will be needed to install the network protocols, such as TCP/IP. 5. When Windows 95 is done installing all the driver and protocol files, a message will be displayed asking if you want to reboot the system. Select YES. The system will reboot. 6. After a successful install, Windows will display a logon prompt for Microsoft networking. The driver has been successfully installed. INSTALLATION -- Windows NT 4.0 ------------------------------ 1. Even though Windows NT is not a plug and play operating system, you must physically install the network adapter before installing the driver. 2. Click on Start, and select Settings -> Control Panel. 3. Double-click on the Network icon in the Control Panel. 4. Select the Adapter tab in the Network Control Panel. 5. Click on the "Add..." button. 6. Windows NT will prompt for a path to the driver diskette. If you are installing from a diskette, put the driver diskette into the diskette drive and type in the drive letter of the diskette (usually "A:\") and press . Note: If installing from CD-ROM, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive and type the path to the CD-ROM drive, and press . 7. Windows NT will install the driver at this time and return to the Network Control Panel window. Note: If you need to configure the network adapters at this time, select the adapter you wish to configure and click on "Properties..." and enter any driver parameter changes into the dialog box. Click OK when done, or CANCEL to cancel any changes you have made. 8. Click on "Close" to close the Network Control Panel. NT will then analyse the bindings to installed protocols and prompt you for any information it needs to continue. 9. A message will be displayed asking if you want to reboot the system. Select YES. The system will reboot. INSTALLATION -- Windows NT 3.51 ------------------------------- 1. Even though Windows NT is not a plug and play operating system, you must physically install the network adapter before installing the driver. 2. In the Program Manager, double-click on the Control Panel icon in the Main program group. 3. Double-click on the Network icon in the Control Panel. 4. Click on the "Add Adapter" button. 5. Windows NT will prompt for a path to the driver diskette. If you are installing from a diskette, put the driver diskette into the diskette drive and type in the drive letter of the diskette (usually "A:\") and press . Note: If installing from CD-ROM, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive and type the path to the CD-ROM drive, and press . 6. Windows NT will install the driver at this time and return to the Network Control Panel window. Note: If you need to configure the network adapters at this time, select the adapter you wish to configure and click on "Properties..." and enter any driver parameter changes into the dialog box. Click OK when done, or CANCEL to cancel any changes you have made. 7. Click on "Close" to close the Network Control Panel. NT will then analyse the bindings to installed protocols and prompt you for any information it needs to continue. 8. A message will be displayed asking if you want to reboot the system. Select YES. The system will reboot. INSTALLATION -- WFW 3.11 ------------------------ 1. Install the PCI TR WOL adapter 2. Boot the system into WFW 3.11 3. Click on NETWORKING SETUP icon in the Networking folder 4. Click on Drivers and click on Add Adapter. 5. Select Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter from the Add Network Adapter window list, and click on OK. 6. Enter A:\WFW in the Install Driver window box, and click on OK. 7. Select IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter,NDIS2/3 from the Netowrk Adapters: list, and click on OK. 8. Select the protocols of interest, and click on Close. 9. Ensure the Network Setup settings are correct, and click on OK. 10. Answer dialog box questions to complete the installation. If the install program needs help finding a file, enter A:\WFW in the Install Driver box, and click on OK. 11. You must restart your computer for the installation to take effect.
