HCF Modem Installation Instructions for Windows 2000 Platform Note: These instructions are for Window 2000 RC1 systems. This build of Windows 2000 contains an ôinbuildö version of the modem drivers. The first time the system is booted up with the modem installed in a PCI slot, it will proceed to install the indbuild drivers (without user interaction.) Below are instructions to upgrade the drivers to the ôcorrectö version.: 1. On a clean RC1 system, insert the PCI modem. Then boot the system. 2. Upon booting, Windows 2000 will detect the modem and proceed installing the inbuild modem drivers (Conexant modem drivers bundled with RC1.) 3. After Windows 2000 has fully booted, go to the Control Panel. 4. Double click on ôSystemö, then click on ôDevice Manager.ö 5. You will see ôModemsö in the device list. Click on the ô+ö next to ôModems.ö 6. Double-click on ôHCF 56K PCI Modem.ö 7. Select the ôDriversö tab, then click the ôUpdate Driverö button. 8. The ôUpgrade Device Driver Wizardö will then run. Follow the instructions in the Wizard to complete the installation of the modem drivers. After the ôFinishö button is pressed, the Device Manager list will update itself and display the modem as ôConexant HCF V90 56K Data/Fax PCI Modem.ö
