This release of the Wildcat PRO Display Driver will only install and run on systems running Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4 (or later). This driver supports standard and wide format 24-inch and 28-inch monitors. -------------------------- End of Version Information -------------------------- Installation Help ================= This driver will not run on any machine which does not have PCI backplane hardware. The Wildcat Pro Display driver will work with both the AGP and AGP Pro versions of the Wildcat Display adapter. See MANIFEST.TXT for a list of delivered files. Please refer to the installation documentation provided with the media supplied with your system. If you are trying to load an updated driver from the Intense3D web site, please do the following: 1. Save the self-extracting .zip file to a temporary directory on the system hard drive. 2. Double-click the self-extracting zip file to unzip the driver files. These extracted drivers files are compressed and will be expanded as they are installed using Windows NT 4.0 Setup. WINDOWS NT 4.0 SETUP - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! --------------------------------------------- All previous versions of the display driver labeled, "Intergraph Display Driver," "Intense3D Display Driver," "Intense3D Intense4kDrv Display Driver," and "Intense Wildcat Driver," should be uninstalled prior to loading the "Intense3D Wildcat PRO Display Driver." See the Uninstall Help section for step-by-step instructions on uninstalling these drivers. To install the Intense3D Wildcat PRO Display Driver: 1. Log into the system using an account that has Administrator privileges. 2. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Display to activate the Display Properties dialog. 3. Click the Settings tab. 4. Click the Display Type button to activate the Display Type dialog. 5. Click the Change button to activate the Change Display dialog. 6. Click the Have Disk button to activate the Install From Disk dialog. 7. Clear the default path, A:\, and click Browse to activate the Locate File dialog. Using the Locate File dialog, find the directory that contains the extracted driver files. Locate and select the file, oemsetup.inf, in the disk1 sub-directory and click Open. The Locate File dialog will dismiss and the Install From Disk dialog will become active. Select OK in the Install From Disk dialog. 8. Another dialog labeled Change Display will appear listing the title of the driver to be installed. Verify that Intense3D Wildcat PRO is highlighted and click OK. 9. A dialog labeled "Third-party Drivers" will appear prompting you to proceed with the installation of a third-party driver. Click YES. 10. During the installation, a dialog labeled "Files Needed" will appear and indicate that an additional file is needed. The default path will be the same as the path selected in step 7. 11. Click Browse and locate the disk2 sub-directory. Select the needed file and click Open. Then click OK in the Files Needed dialog. Repeat this process for files in the disk3 and disk4 sub-directories. 12. A dialog box labeled Installing Driver should appear indicating that the drivers were successfully installed. Click OK. 13. Click Close in the Display Type dialog. 14. Click Close in the Display Properties dialog. 15. A final dialog will appear and state the system settings have been changed and that you must restart your computer in order for the new settings to take effect. Click Yes in order to reboot the system. 16. The Wildcat PRO Display Driver will be loaded during system boot and display at the 640 x 480 resolution. However, if an earlier version of the Intense3D Wildcat PRO Driver exists, the resolution will be the last one selected. After logging on again, the resolution can be changed in the Display Properties dialog. 17. Following the system shutdown and subsequent logon, a dialog will appear stating that the current settings are invalid. This dialog appears the first time you logon after you have changed the display driver. Click OK and configure the display settings to meet your requirements. Uninstall Help ============== To uninstall this version of the Intense3D Wildcat PRO Display Driver, use the Add/Remove Programs Properties utility in the Control Panel. WINDOWS NT 4.0 UNINSTALL ------------------------ 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs. 2. On the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog, select "Intense3D Display Driver" from the list of available programs, and click Add/Remove to uninstall the existing driver. 3. A dialog will appear which describes the function of the Intense3D Display Driver uninstall program and you will be prompted to verify the removal of the Display Driver. Click Yes to complete the driver removal. Screen Resolution and Refresh Rate Table ======================================== To access the list of available screen resolutions and refresh rates, the "List All Modes..." button on the "Settings" page of the Display Properties page must be selected. 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Display. 2. From the Display Properties dialog, click the Settings tab. 3. Click "List All Modes..." to access the table of supported screen resolutions and refresh rates. Monitor Selection ================= The "Intense3D Monitor" page in Display Properties must be used to change the monitor type. 1. From the operating system Start menu, go to Settings/Control Panel and double-click Display. 2. On the Display Properties dialog, click the Intense3D Monitor tab. 3. Click the "Configure Monitor" button. At this point the "Configure Monitor" dialog will be displayed. 4. Select one of the three monitor types: Generic, Plug-and-Play, or Vendor. Selection of one of these three monitor types will potentially alter the list of resolutions reported in the "Available Resolutions" field. - The Generic monitor type will provide a list of generic resolutions. - The Plug-and-Play monitor type will provide a list of the resolutions supported by the monitor plugged into the system if the monitor is Plug-and-Play capable. - The Vendor monitor selection allows you to choose a specific monitor from the provided list of monitors. Once you have chosen a monitor, the resolution and refresh rate nearest to the current settings will be highlighted. 5. Select a resolution from list of Available Resolutions. 6. Click OK to accept the new monitor, resolution, and refresh settings. A dialog box will display inquiring whether you wish to keep the new settings. If you select Yes, the settings will be changed and the Configure Monitor dialog will be dismissed. If you select No, the settings will revert to previous settings and the Configure Monitor dialog is not dismissed. You may select Cancel to discard any changes you have made on the Configure Monitor dialog. Display Modes ============= The Intense3D Monitor page in Display Properties must be used to change display modes. 1. Choose the Display icon in the Control Panel. 2. Click the Intense3D Monitor tab. 3. Click Configure Monitor. At this point the Configure Monitor dialog will be displayed. 4. Select a display mode from the Display Modes pull-down. 5. Select a resolution from the Available Resolutions list. 6. Click OK to accept the new display mode. You may click Cancel to discard any changes you have made on the Configure Monitor dialog. Context-Sensitive Help ====================== Context-sensitive help is provided for Intense 3D dialogs in the display properties applet. The only exception to this is the Configuration Wizard, which provides detailed instructions for each step. Context-sensitive help for a particular control is accessible using three different methods. - Click the question mark located on the title bar of the active dialog. The cursor will change to a question mark with an arrow. Next, click on the control on which you wish to receive help. - Right-click the control on which you wish to receive help. - Set the focus on the control you wish to receive help about and press F1. Any of these methods will bring up a small box filled with text that provides information on the control you have chosen. New Features ============ 04.00.01.06 - Added support for 1280x1024@70Hz resolution. - Added support for additional monitor. 04.00.01.03 - Changed silent install to install the localized driver 04.00.01.02 - Added support for multiple localizations. Fixes ===== 04.00.01.09 - Backed out oemsetup.inf change from 04.00.01.08. Default resolution information is written to the registry. 04.00.01.08 - Fixed a problem with displaying an incorrect quotation mark symbol on one of the applet pages for Simplified Chinese. - Fixed a random boot hang introduced in 04.00.01.07. - Changed oemsetup.inf file to not write default resolution information. 04.00.01.07 - Fixed hang when coming out of full screen DOS mode while an OpenGL window is opened. 04.00.01.06 - Removed duplicate resolution entries for Generic Monitor. Duplicate entries resulted in the aspect ratio of some resolutions being incorrect. 04.00.01.05 - Show expanded monitor and manufacturer information on the Intense 3D Monitor page when supplied by the monitor's EDID. - Fixed a bug in 3DSMAX where pop-up windows were being replaced with stale graphics after being dismissed. - Fixed conformance error. - Added PIII detection for fast path transfer code. 04.00.01.04 - Fixed WHQL hang in gdistrss. - Fixed potential hangs involving multisampled points when multiple applications are running and contexts are being switched between multisampled and non-multisampled applications. 04.00.01.03 - Fixed a problem with automatic installer not working with driver files in multiple directories. - Fixed a problem with a localized dll not being delivered upon driver installation. - Fixed a problem with some localized dlls not being removed during the uninstall. 04.00.01.01 - Fixed the problem with potentially causing a hang by running to instances of "imagehang" simultaneously. - Fixed a problem in 3D Studio Max with objects sometimes not being deleted from all views. - Fixed a problem in 3D Studio Max with viewports sometimes not being refreshed properly when switching from viewport to viewport. - Fixed problems in 3D texturing which caused failures while running the texture stress test "textest" - Fixed problems with rendering images using convolution. Problems were manifested by internal test programs. - Fixed problem with failing internally 3D texture tests. - Fixed a problem with not rendering correctly when the texture color table extension was enabled. - Fixed problems with multisampled points rendering incorrectly. Trouble Shooting ================ IF YOU BOOT NT AND THE SCREEN DOES NOT SYNCHRONIZE PROPERLY, DO THE FOLLOWING: Reboot the system to NT, but hit the space bar immediately when prompted. Select 'Use Last Known Good' in the Configuration Recovery Menu. This approach assumes the last configuration was a valid configuration, however. If the 'Last Known Good' method does not apply to your case, try selecting the VGA option from the system boot menu. Selecting this option will boot NT with the VGA driver instead of the GL Display Driver. At this point you can reinstall the Display Driver. If all else fails: Reboot the system to DOS and remove the file WCGMPD.SYS in the directory %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. Reboot the system again and boot into VGA mode. Since the Intense3D Wildcat Pro Miniport Driver has been removed, NT will use the Microsoft standard VGA driver. Re-install the Wildcat Display Driver using the Display Properties page. Reboot the system. Following the reboot, select an acceptable resolution using the Display Properties page. If your system does not have DOS (NT only), and your installation of NT uses the standard DOS file system (FATFS), you may boot from floppy, then remove this file from the system drive. If your NT system was built on OS/2, or if your NT resides on HPFS, you may boot from an OS/2 system recovery (boot) floppy and remove the file. If you have an NTFS- formatted system disk, you will need to reload the NT Operating System (DO NOT choose to reformat your system disk during reinstallation; this will erase the data on your hard drive).
