Readme.txt for Windows 95 IR Mode Selection application Version 1.0 Description. The Infrared hardware in your system is able to communicate using two different modes or Infrared protocols. These protocols are SHARP and IrDA. The SHARP mode is used by some PDA devices (especially SHARP PDAs). The IrDA protocol is used by other PDAs and many Infrared enabled devices including other desktop and portable computers. The applications used to communicate with these devices may require that the Infrared hardware already be set to the proper operating mode. This is typical of applications that treat the Infrared port as a serial communications port. Applications that use the supplied device driver will automatically set IrDA mode in the Infrared hardware. If you wish to change modes and the application does not appear to work properly, it may require that the hardware be set to the proper mode by manual means. This application allows you to verify the mode currently active and to change that mode manually. Before using this application to change the hardware mode, always make sure that applications using the hardware are closed. If the application status indicates that Infrared is not enabled, check your BIOS setup menu to make sure that Infrared is enabled in the BIOS settings. Installation.
