OSINUPGD - OS/2 WARP UPGRADE EDITION FOR OS/2 2.1 AND 2.11 03/27/95 ================================================================ OS/2 WARP UPGRADE EDITION FOR OS/2 2.1 AND 2.11 ================================================================ Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures ---------------------------------------------------------------- The document contains information for OS/2 2.1 and 2.11 users who are installing the OS/2 Warp Upgrade Edition. You need your OS/2 2.1 or 2.11 diskettes for these procedures. If you do not have these diskettes, you need to create a Utility Diskette 1 before continuing. CREATING A UTILITY DISKETTE 1 -------------------------------- 1. Use DISKCOPY to copy the OS/2 Warp Diskette 1 to a 1.44MB diskette. The 1.44MB diskette is now the Utility diskette 1. 2. Delete the file named BUNDLE from the Utility diskette 1. 3. Copy UHPFS.DLL and FORMAT.COM from OS/2 Warp Diskette 2 to the Utility diskette 1. 4. If you are installing OS/2 from a CD, copy UHPFS.DLL and FORMAT.COM from the \OS2IMAGE\DISK_2 directory on the CD to the Utility diskette 1. If there is not enough space to copy these files to the Utility diskette 1, delete DEL.LST and SIPANEL1.DLL from the Utility diskette 1. If you need more space on the Utility diskette 1, delete all AHA*.ADD, SONY*.ADD, MI*.ADD, LMS*.ADD, AIC*.ADD, and FD*.ADD files. 5. Modify the CONFIG.SYS on Utility diskette 1, as follows: Installing OS/2 from diskettes, change: From: SET OS2_SHELL=SYSINST2.EXE To: SET OS2_SHELL=CMD.EXE Installing OS/2 from a CD, change: From: SET OS2_SHELL=SYSINST2.EXE To: SET OS2_SHELL=CMD.EXE Delete: SET OS2_SHELL=CDINST.EXE If you are installing OS/2 from a CD and you have deleted AHA*.ADD, SONY*.ADD, MI*.ADD, AIC*.ADD, FD*.ADD, and LMS*.ADD files, make sure you also remove the corresponding BASEDEV=AHA*, SONY*, MI*, AIC*, FD*, and LMS*.ADD files statement from the CONFIG.SYS on Utility diskette 1. REPARTITIONING THE HARD DISK BEFORE INSTALLING OS/2 WARP UPGRADE EDITION --------------------------------------------------------------- I need to repartition my hard disk before installing OS/2 Warp Upgrade Edition. How do I do that? To repartition your existing OS/2 2.1 or 2.11 hard disk, start OS/2 2.1, or 2.11, or OS/2 Warp from a diskette using drive A. 1. Insert the OS/2 2.1, 2.11, or OS/2 Warp installation diskette in drive A. 2. Turn the system on or press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system. 3. When prompted, remove the installation diskette and insert the OS/2 2.1, or 2.11 diskette 1, or Utility diskette 1 in drive A and press ENTER. If you use the Utility diskette 1, skip the next step. 4. At the Installation Drive Selection screen, press F3 to go to a command prompt. 5. At the command prompt, type A:\FDISK and follow the instructions on the FDISK screen and repartition the drive. After you repartition the drive, you must format the drive.
