PROBLEM Some packages (less than 100) of the 3.5" version of the IBM Extended Services With Database Server for OS/2 product contain the following two downlevel diskettes: * IBM Extended Services With Database Server for OS/2 - Diskette 6 of 8 from this group is downlevel - Used to install IBM Extended Services with Database Server for OS/2 - Part number on downlevel diskette label is 41G8787 - Part number on correct diskette label is 41G9012 * IBM Extended Services with Database Server for OS/2 NETBIOS Database Client - Diskette 1 of 2 from this group is downlevel - Used to install NETBIOS Database Client on an OS/2 2.0 workstation - Part number on downlevel diskette label is 41G8790 - Part number on correct diskette label is 41G8895 If you have the downlevel diskettes, you will only be affected in the following cases: * You installed IBM Extended Services with Database Server for OS/2 (with diskette 6) and you attempt to backup your database to the same tape device where your logs are being archived. * You installed the NETBIOS Database Client (with diskette 1) on an OS/2 2.0 system to use the DOS or DOS Windows Database Client. WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE THE DOWNLEVEL DISKETTES Copies of the correct diskettes can be obtained in the following manner: * Call IBM Service at 1-800-237-5511 and request to have the diskettes mailed to you. Refer to APAR JR06081. * If you or your IBM representative have access to OS2PROD2, the diskette images can be downloaded. - From OS2PROD2, request package OS2ES20A - Diskette 6 is image E20BSP06 IMGBIN - Diskette 1 is image E20BSN01 IMGBIN WHAT TO DO AFTER YOU OBTAIN THE CORRECT DISKETTES If you installed IBM Extended Services with Database Server for OS/2 NETBIOS Database Client to use the DOS or DOS Windows Database Client, you should install it again using the correct diskette 1. Otherwise, skip this step. If you installed IBM Extended Services with Database Server for OS/2, you can install it again with the new diskette 6. If you prefer not to reinstall IBM Extended Services with Database Server for OS/2, you can do the following: * Use PKUNZIP2 (part of the operating system) to "unzip" the SQLR.DLL and copy it to \SQLLIB\DLL - Create a temporary directory on your fixed disk, for example, C:\TEMP - Ensure that Database Manager is stopped by typing STOPDBM at the OS/2 command prompt. - Change to temporary directory. - Insert the replacement diskette 6 in the A: drive and type: PKUNZIP2 A:GRP_1396 This will "unzip" four DLLs: SQLR.DLL, SQLN.DLL SQLUB.DLL, and SQLE.DLL. - Copy SQLR.DLL to x:\SQLLIB\DLL. Then erase from your temporary directory. - Shutdown and reipl your system.
