See How to determine what version is installed section later in this document to find what firmware version is installed. This Driver will overwrite the latest Firmware upon system boot, even though the actual Firmware on the card is still down level. So further Firmware update will no longer be required. Follow the manual installation instruction as described in this section. - In some cases, you may need to re-enter SSID and/or WEP keys after updating the driver. 1. Start Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start and then click Run. 4. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE to install the driver. Click the Next button to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 5. Follow the instructions. 6. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. 1. Start Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start and then click Run. 3. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE to install the driver. Click Next button to start the uninstallation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 4. Select Remove and follow the instructions 5. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. 1. Start Windows 95/Me. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and double-click System. 4. Click Device Manager, click Network Adapters, then double-click High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI Combo Card. 5. Click Driver and click Update Driver. 6. Follow the instructions, specify the location for the driver files where you extracted the package in step 2. Default location for Windows Me is C:\Drivers\Win\WLLANACT\ME Default location for Windows 95 is C:\Drivers\Win\WLLANACT\95 7. Click Finish when prompted and restart the system. 1. Start Windows 95/Me. 2. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and double-click System. 3. Click Device Manager, click Network Adapters, then double-click High Rate Wireless LAN MiniPCI Combo Card. 4. Click Driver and click Remove. 5. Click OK and restart the system. 1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Network icon. The Network Configuration dialog box is displayed if this is the first time configuring the Network. If not, go to step 20. (First Network Configuration) 5. Click the Yes button. 6. Select Wired to the network. 7. Click the Next button. 8. Click the Select from list button. 9. Click the Have Disk button. 10. Follow the instructions on the screen. 16. Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually C:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's X:\i386 directory.) 17. Follow the instructions on the screen. 18. Click the Finish button when the installation completes. 19. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. (Adding Wireless LAN to Network Configuration) 20. Click the Adapters tab. 21. Click the Add button. 22. Click the Have Disk button. 23. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. Unattended Installation Guide ----------------------------- These procedure are intended only for system administrators. Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP ------------------------ 1. Create response file 1-1. Start Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 1-2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 1-3. Click Start and then click Run. 1-4. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE -r to install the driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 1-5. Follow the instructions. 1-6. Click No when prompted to restart the system. 1-7. SETUP.ISS file will be created in your windows system directory. 2. Unattended install with automatic reboot 2-1. Start Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 2-2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 2-3. Copy SETUP.ISS file that you have created in step 1-7, to the directory where SETUP.EXE resides. 2-4. Click Start and then click Run. 2-5. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE -s to install the driver. Click OK button to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 2-6. Driver will silently install and the system will reboot. 3. Unattended install without automatic reboot 3-1. Sample SETUP.ISS file is included in this package. 3-2. Start Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 3-3. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3-4. Copy SETUP.ISS file that you have created in step 1-7, to the directory where SETUP.EXE resides. The edit the SETUP.ISS file and change the line including "BootOption" to "BootOption=0" 3-5. Click Start and then click Run. 3-6. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE -s to install the driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. The Driver will silently install and the system will not reboot. v3-7. Click About tab. Make sure that NIC firmware version is 1.03.03.00 or later. 5. Click Driver tab.
