[Problem fixes] Nothing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The IBM BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. Check Embedded Controller Version and BIOS Version. 5. Turn off the computer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: - This version of Embedded Controller Program will only work with BIOS Version 3.01 (or higher). Obtain the additional package, BIOS Version 3.01 (or higher), and update the BIOS in the system with it. - If you need to update the BIOS as well as the Embedded Controller Program, update BIOS first. - This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS Notes: - If you use your computer satisfactory now, it is not necessarily required to update the Embedded Controller Program. Use it as it is. To determine if you should update the Embedded Controller Program, refer to the Version Information section. - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the Embedded Controller Program. - If your computer is attached to any kind of docking station or port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. (Except the ThinkPad UltraBase X3 option. You can attach the option and use the diskette drive option in it.) - Make sure the Embedded Controller Program Service Diskette is write-protected. - Remove the Power-on password prior to updating the Embedded Controller Program in RDM (Remote Deployment Manager) environment or similar environment. 1. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 2. Insert the write protected Embedded Controller Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 3. Select Read this first from the menu and carefully read the information that appears. 4. Press the Esc key to return to the menu. 5. Select Update Embedded Controller Program and follow the instruction on the screen. Note: If you are updating the Embedded Controller Program through the USB external diskette drive, it will take quite a long time to complete reading the Embedded Controller Program file, but it is normal. Continue the update. Attention: Do not turn off, suspend the computer or remove the diskette until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
