What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the TPM driver for Windows 2000/XP.
The TPM driver enables or updates the TPM functions
on the following ThinkPad computers.

This release supports the following systems:

  - ThinkPad T43
  - ThinkPad T43p
  - ThinkPad R52

To determine if you should update the TPM driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the TPM driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions"
section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

Note: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard
for the device driver in the following operating systems:

- Windows 2000
- Windows XP


Windows 2000

UPDATE INSTALL:
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel"
 3. Double-click "System" icon
 4. Click "Hardware" tab
 5. Click "Device Manager" button
 6. Click "+" mark to expand "System devices" category
 7. Right-click "NSC TPM Device" or "NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1"
    in "System devices" and click "Properties"
 8. Click "Driver" tab
 9. Click "Update Driver" button
10. Click "Next" button
11. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device"
12. Click "Next" button
13. Select "Specify a location" only
14. Click "Next" button
15. Click "Browse" button, locate the driver, and click "Open" button
16. Click "OK" button
17. Click "Next" button
18. Click "Finish" button when completed
19. Click "Close" button

CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If it is the first time to boot Windows 2000, the OS detects the "TPM Device"
automatically.  To install the device driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000
 2. It displays "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box
 3. Click "Next" button
 4. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device"
 5. Click "Next" button
 6. Select "Specify a location" only
 7. Click "Next" button
 8. Click "Browse" button, locate the driver, and click "Open" button
 9. Click "OK" button
10. Click "Next" button
11. Click "Finish" button when completed

CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other or System devices)
Windows 2000 detected the "TPM Device", but was not able to locate the suitable
device driver.  In this case, you will see "Unknown device" in "Other devices"
or "System devices" category in the Device Manager.  To install the driver, follow the
instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel"
 3. Double-click "System" icon
 4. Click "Hardware" tab
 5. Click "Device Manager" button
 6. Right-click "Unknown device" in "Other devices" or "System devices" and click "Properties"
 7. Click "Driver" tab
 8. Click "Update Driver" button
 9. Click "Next" button
10. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device"
11. Click "Next" button
12. Select "Specify a location" only
13. Click "Next" button
14. Click "Browse" button, locate the driver, and click "Open" button
15. Click "OK" button
16. Click "Next" button
17. Click "Finish" button when completed
18. Click "Close" button


Windows XP

UPDATE INSTALL:

 3. Click "Performance and Maintenance" and then "System" icon
 4. Click "Hardware" tab
 5. Click "Device Manager" button
 6. Click "+" mark to expand "System devices" category
 7. Right-click "NSC TPM Device" or "NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1"
    in "System devices" and click "Properties"
 8. Click "Driver" tab
 9. Click "Update Driver" button
10. Select "No, not this time" and click "Next" button
11. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
12. Click "Next" button
13. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations" and
    "Include this location in the search" only
14. Click "Browse" button, select the folder that contains the driver, and click "OK" button
15. Click "Next" button
16. Click "Finish" button when completed
17. Click "Close" button

CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard)

 8. Click "Next" button
 9. Click "Finish" button when completed

CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other or System devices)
Windows XP detected the "TPM Device", but was not able to find the suitable

Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your
system, follow the instructions below:

1. Open the Device Manager, expand "System devices" category, and open "NSC TPM Device"
   or "NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1"
2. Click "Driver" tab and check the Driver Version
