[Problem fixes] - Force boot from HDD when S4 resume with DC mode. - Remove [Simultaneous] function from BIOS setup menu. - Fix wrong memory size in BIOS setup menu. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press Lenovo Care button" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. Check BIOS Version. 5. Turn off the computer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS Notes: - If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the BIOS. To determine if you should update the BIOS, refer to the Version Information section. - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the BIOS. - If a USB Floppy Disk Drive is attached to your computer, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. - After updating BIOS to the new BIOS, the system will automatically reboot. The first time reboot maybe failed, please press the power button for more than 4 seconds to shutdown the machine. The following reboot will be successful. Attention: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. This update can be installed with two different methods. (A) Automatic update with ThinkVantage System Update (B) Manual update (A) Automatic Update with ThinkVantage System Update The ThinkVantage System Update will check both installed programs in your computer and our Web site. Then download and update the program automatically if a newer version is available. Refer to the ThinkVantage System Update package for details. (B) Manual Update Refer to the Manual Update section. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INITIALIZING BIOS BIOS Initialization is suggested for some problems. To initialize the BIOS settings: 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press Lenovo Care button" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. Press the F9 key to load default configuration. 5. Select Yes. 6. Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit. 7. Select Yes. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Explorer. (Downloading files) 1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear. 2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory you would like to download the file to and click the "Save" button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete without your assistance. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted. (Extracting files) 3. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded. 4. Locate the file that was just downloaded and double click it using the left mouse button. The file will begin to extract in the directory where the downloaded file is located. (Installing files) 5. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 6. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges. 7. Open an Explorer and locate the directory where the files were extracted. 8. Double-click WinPhlash.exe file. 9. Follow the instructions on the screen. After the update has been completed, the computer restarts automatically.
