If Windows Vista 64-bit is already installed on your system, then you must use the diskette or bootable CD ISO format of this BIOS update. This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGES IN THIS RELEASE Version 1.12 -Authentication of the fingerprint fails during enumerating a USB device. -Support srcmos utility even through supervisor password isn't set in system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 4. Check BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version. 5. Turn off the computer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: - If Windows Vista 64-bit is already installed on your system, then you must use the diskette or bootable CD ISO format of this BIOS update. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATING THE BIOS Notes: - If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the BIOS. To determine if you should update the BIOS, refer to the Version Information section. - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the BIOS. - If your computer is attached to any kind of docking station or port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. - Remove the Power-on password prior to updating the BIOS in the RDM (Remote Deployment Manager) or similar environment. Attention: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU DO THAT WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. MANUAL UPDATE 1. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 2. Start Windows Vista 32-bit, XP, 2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 3. Double-click 7iuj10us.exe to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\FLASH\7iuj10us.exe 4. For Windows Vista, Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run... For Windows XP, Click Start, then click Run... 5. Specify WINUPTP.EXE with the full path name where you saved the package, then click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\FLASH\7iuj10us\WINUPTP.EXE 6. Follow the instructions on the screen. 7. Select 'Update ThinkPad BIOS' and follow the instructions on the screen. 8. After the update has been completed, the program shows a message 'Flash Update has been successfully completed...'. Follow the instructions on the screen to restart the computer. UNATTENDED UPDATE This procedure is intended only for system administrators. The BIOS is updated without any user interaction. - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and extract the files. - At the command line, execute WINUPTP.EXE with the -S option. To initialize the BIOS settings: 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Turn on the computer. 3.
