Patch for PC Doctor memory test delay for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP version 1 Installation README Problem description ------------------- The memory diagnostic in PC Doctor can take a very long time to run. This may occur on an IBM system with one of the machine types listed below running Windows XP (Home or Professional) or Windows 2000. Cases have been noted where the test will take more than 24 hours to complete testing. If PCDR is not installed on the system, DGMEMFIX will instruct the user to re-install PCDR. The user should be able to run the PCDR for Windows memory diagnostic without an excessive delay after this patch is applied. This patch will replace the diagmem.ini & diagmem.p3t files in the PCDR installation. The new files will dynamically adjust to the amount of memory available in the system, and will only test that memory which is not currently used by the operating system. CAUTION ------- The default values should NOT be changed for systems containing 512MB or less! If the amount of "reserved" memory is increased too much, the memory diagnostic will not be accurate in testing memory problems! Only +/- 10% should be reserved so that the maximum amount of memory is tested without significant reduction in system usability due to paging delays! This release supports the following systems: - IBM NetVista (type 2254, 2256, 2257, 2271, 2283, 2292, 6274, 6336, 6337, 6339, 6341, 6342, 6346, 6347, 6348, 6349, 6350, 6596, 6790, 6791, 6792, 6793, 6794, 6795, 6823, and 6825) systems running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP - IBM IntelliStation E Pro (type 6204 and 6214) systems running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.
