Installation Readme


This package installs a utility that will update the EEPROM on
IBM NetVista 2273, 2292, 6043, 6343, 6349, 6350, 6790, 6791, 6792,
6793, 6794, 6795, 6823, and 6825 systems using onboard integrated
Intel ethernet adapters with device ID 2449.

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.


Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file, be sure to select a path that does not
   have a space in it's name.


Extracting the update
---------------------
1.  Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and 
    folders.
2.  Type pz2z28us.exe in the search field, then click Find Now.
    This will locate the pz2z28us.exe file you just downloaded. 
3.  Double-click the pz2z28us.exe icon.
4.  Click Next. Read the license agreement.
5.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. 
6.  Click Next. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to
    C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\PZ2Z28US.
7.  Click Next. Follow the on-screen prompts to extract the
    necessary files to the C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\PZ2Z28US directory.
8.  The EEPROM update utility will launch automatically. If the
    EEPROM needs to be updated it will do so and reboot
    automatically. Once the utility is complete a log file will be
    created in the C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\PZ2Z28US directory. This file
    will display the final status of the update process.


Running the utility manually
----------------------------
Run the program ibmfixw32.exe from the C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\PZ2Z28US
directory.
