UPGRD - Travan Firmware Upgrade Utility UPGRD.EXE is a utility to upgrade the firmware in IBM Travan tape drives. This program checks that the flash file is compatible with the target tape drive before upgrading the firmware, checks the 3rd letter in the model number: M for Bali and Falcon 1 models CTM... T for Travan drives, models CTT... or STT... and checks the first digit of the firmware version: 3 for Bali 1 (3.xx) 7 for Falcon 1 (7.xx) 1 for Falcon 2/Bali 2 (1.xx) 2 for Bali 2A (2.xx) 3 for Hornet 8 SCSI (3.xx) 4 for Hornet NS 8 (4.xx) 5 for Hornet 8 ATAPI (5.xx) 6 for Hornet 20 SCSI (6.xx) 7 for Hornet NS 20 (7.xx) 8 for Hornet 20 ATAPI (8.xx) Both checks must match the drive's current Inquiry data with the flash file before UPGRD.EXE will start a flash download. This program should be run from a DOS prompt, and for SCSI tape drives the appropriate ASPI driver (for example ASPI8DOS.SYS) must be loaded. For convenience the 1020V730.EXE file has been built to be a self-extracting DOS 2000 bootable image file with the most common ASPI device drivers loaded. Running the program with no parameters will display help on the correct program syntax. From the DOS prompt type C:> UPGRD.EXE The following help text will appear: Seagate Technology Firmware Upgrade Utility UPGRD.EXE Version 2.03 for 4000/8000 series tape drives Usage is: UPGRD <0|1|2|3> Where: - Name of the flash update file - Use I for IDE, S for SCSI <0|1|2|3> - Host adapter number SCSI Example: UPGRD MKDC5730.FLS S 0 IDE Example: UPGRD MKDC5730.FLS I 1 (c) 1997 Seagate Technology, Inc.
