You may have to switch between SpeechViewer III and the Volume Control applet several times before you are satisfied with the mic volume level. If the mic volume is not high enough when the Mic volume control slider bar is all the way to the top, then adjust the Master Record volume control slider bar which is located on the left side of the Volume Control applet.
  9. Once you have finished setting the mic volume, click Options on the menu bar of the Volume Control applet and Exit from the menu pull down.
