Ensure that the adapter is physically installed in your server or workstation prior to installing the driver software. 2. Verify that your Windows NT system is upgraded with Service Pack 5 or later. 3. Boot the computer and start Windows NT. 4. Log in to the Windows NT Administrator account. 5. Extract all five diskette executables to a directory on your on your hard drive (ex. C:\3C980). 6. From the Windows Start menu, select Settings/Control Panel. 7. Double-click the Network icon. 8. In the Network window, click the Adapters tab. 9. In the Adapters tab, click 'Add'. 10. In the "Select Network Adapter" window, click 'Have Disk'. 11. In the "Insert Disk" dialog box, type the path where the drivers are located (ex. C:\3C980) and click 'OK'. 12. In the "Select OEM Option" window, verify that '3Com 3C98x 10/100 Server NIC' is highlighted, and click 'OK'. 13. Click 'Close' to complete installation. If necessary, enter the information needed to define an IP address. 14. Restart the computer. Windows 2000: 1. Boot the computer and start Windows 2000. 2. Log in to the Windows 2000 Administrator account. 3. Extract all five diskette executables to a directory on your on your hard drive (ex. C:\3C980). 4. Shut down your system and install the adapter in your server or workstation. 5. Reboot your computer, start Windows 2000, and log in to the Windows 2000 Administrator account. 6. In the first wizard window, click 'Next'. 7. In the next window, click 'Next'. 8. In the next window, check 'Specify a location' and clear all other check boxes. Click 'Next'. 9. In the wizard dialog box, type the path where the drivers are located (ex. C:\3C980) and click 'OK'. 10. Follow the installation prompts. 11.
