Installation Instructions for the Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200 BG Mini PCI adapter software for Windows XP/2000 I. Install instructions NOTES: * The included setup.exe file in the zip file provides the install/uninstall wizard for this package. * Both of the following components need to be installed: o Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter o Intel(R) Sebring API * In some cases, you may need to re-enter the SSID and/or WEP keys after updating the driver. * IBM Access Connections version 2.70 or later needs to be installed to configure this device. * To utilize CCX and WPA wireless connections, adapter software for your wireless adapter and Access Connections should be updated as follows: o IBM Access Connections version 2.70 or later Follow the instructions below when you install the wireless adapter software and the Access Connections. Before updating the wireless adapter software, please uninstall the IBM Access Connections if already installed: 1. Start Windows XP/2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. 3. Click Add/Remove Programs or Add or Remove Programs. 4. Click IBM Access Connections if it is listed under Currently installed programs. 5. Click Change/Remove or Remove and follow the instructions on the screen. If you currently use IEEE 802.1x authentication on Windows XP Service Pack 1, IBM recommends to uninstall Q826942 (WPA Supplicant update rollup package in Windows XP) or Q815485 (WPA Wireless Security Update in Windows XP ) if you do not use WPA security feature. To check if the Q826942 or Q815485 is installed and to uninstall it: 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. 3. Click Add or Remove Programs. 4. Click Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q826942 or Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q815485 if it is listed under Currently installed programs. 5. Click Remove and follow the instructions on the screen. WARNING: The above action will remove all the fixes within the update rollup package, Q826942. You may need to reinstall the other specific hotfixes you expect for this rollup package. -If you use Windows 2000, please stop the Microsoft Wireless Configuration service if already installed. To check if the service is installed and to stop it: 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Administrative Tools then Services. 4. Double-click Wireless Configuration if it is listed. 5. Change Startup type to Disabled if it is not. 6. Click OK. Installation instructions 1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Double-Click on the Setup.exe file in the directory where you have extracted the zip file. 4. Follow the instructions. Unattended install NOTE: This procedure is intended only for system administrators. How to silently install without automatic reboot 1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Double-Click on the Setup.exe file in the directory where you have extracted the zip file. 4. Follow the instructions. II. Uninstall instructions 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. Logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. 3. Click Add or Remove Programs 4. Click Intel Sebring API if it is listed under Currently installed programs 5. Click Remove and follow the instructions on the screen. 6. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. 7. Double-click System, select the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager. 8. Double-click Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter under Network Adapters. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click Uninstall. 11. Follow the instructions. 12. Restart the system. III. Determining which version is installed 1. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. 2. Double-click System, select the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager. 3. Double-click Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter under Network Adapters. 4. Click the Driver tab. The version and date of the driver are displayed.
