Selecting the appropriate firmware update file.
There have been  three TRAVAN technology tape drives released under the IBM marketing 
part number 06H9716.  The first TR4 was manufactured for IBM by Conner Tape 
Technologies.  Conner was bought by Seagate which continued to make a IBM Conner 
lookalike TR4.  We currently ship an updated technology IBM/Seagate version of the TR4.

In order to determine which of the three units is installed.  Simply view the SCSI Inquiry 
string displayed during the SCSI scan. Alternatively under NT’s control panel/tape you will 
see either:

CONNER CTT8000   1.17.........apply tr4c122.exe
CONNER CTT8000-S 3.44.........apply tr4c352.exe
SEAGATE ST8000N  3.44.........apply tr4s351.exe

The drive will only accept an appropriate update.  No damage will occur to the tape drive
if the wrong file has tried to be deployed.  

The updates expand to create DOS bootable diskette images with ASPI support which if booted to 
will automatically execute the firmware update on the tape unit.  Alternativly, the expanded 
images additionally contain an executable(FUP.exe) which can be run in any Windows environment
(Win95,Win98, NT, Win2000).

Please ensure that the media has been removed prior to preforming a firmware update.
